florence ada mallandain + horace victor warner

Florence was born in Hackney in 1877 to William Samuel Mallandain and Jane Bull. She grew up on Scawfell Street in Haggerston and when she was 14 years old, her family moved to Pownall Road where they lived for the next twenty years.

On 23 July 1899, she married Horace Warner at St Mary in Haggerston. Horace was the son of Edward Henry Warner, a Salesman, and Sarah Ann Prosser. He was born at 57 Downham Road in Hackney and baptised at All Saints, Stoke Newington on 19 March 1876. When they married, Horace was working as an Optical Assistant and living at 25 Trafalgar Road while Florence was living with her family at 5 Pownall Road.

In 1901, they were living in the Mallandain family home at 5 Pownall Road where they occupied two rooms. Florence's parents and her younger sister Beatrice occupied the remaining four rooms in the house. It is not known if they moved into the house right after their marriage or sometime later.

The first of their three sons, Horace Alfred, was born on 1 February 1903 and baptised at St Mary three weeks later. William Frederick was born on 15 November 1905 and Arthur George on 19 March 1909.

In 1911, Florence, Horace and their three sons were living in six rooms at 58 Norfolk Road near Hackney Downs in Dalston, They had moved to Norfolk Road in 1907 and Horace was still working as an Optician.

Florence died in March 1922 and was buried at Abney Park Cemetery. Horace died in six years later but his burial record has not been found.

Their youngest son Horace married Ada Phillips in Edmonton in 1930 but it is not known if they had any children. Ada was 14 years older than Horace and was 41 years old when she married. In 1939, they were living at 33 Albert Road in Hornsey in North London and Horace was working as a Precision Tool Maker.  

Arthur married Frances Kate Bryce in Edmonton in 1936 and three years later, they were living at 80 Beaconsfield Road in Tottenham. He was working as a Mechanical Fitter for an Air Conditioning company and his wife as a Bench Hand at a Handbag Manufacturers.

William was the last to marry, in the fall of 1937, to Constance Ballard in Hackney and they had one son. In 1939, they were living at 19 Twickenham Road in Leyton, Essex and he was working as a Police Constablefor the Metropolitan Police. Constance died in Waltham Forest in 2005 but William's death record has not been found.
